5 Key Steps to Success

Many clients have issues with time management, focus, and taking on too much at one time. People beginning new ventures, are at an all time high. Charting the course of action to take involves many steps. Some are known. Others will arise as things progress.

In addition, sometimes we get caught up in how our goal should occur, so instead of taking it step by step, we might fast forward our thinking to the finished product. All of our energy goes into seeing the final results. Depending on what you are trying to achieve and how many other goals you've got going on at the same time, that can set the environment for MAJOR FRUSTRATION.

What to do when. This needs to happen, so that can happen. This is taking longer than was projected. Other projects are going on at the same time. We didn't sleep so well the night before, and it's difficult to keep it all in perspective. We have to be at our kids' soccer game at the most inconvenient time! It's enough to put anyone into a state of overwhelm.

This scenario used to be fairly constant for me, until I finally learned the most important KEY to being successful at anything!
The process is really quite simple, but incredibly effective. You see it all comes down to redefining success. In the past, we might have had some definition that we believed meant success. But that is actually where our problems got started!

Many of us view success as a finished product. That vision of the completion of our goal is a heavy load to take on. You don't just envision something and then it occurs. With most things there is a process with steps to follow that will lead to the end result. But what happens to some of us is that we think of something, and we see it realized. We get all excited and then begin taking action. A large percent don't reach their intended goal because they take a step prematurely, one that is further along in the process. Our minds are picturing us in our success, not how we got there. Identifying each stage of the creation of our goal is fundamental to its fruition.

Let me introduced to you a new definition of success. This will help to form a new way of appreciating all the things that we do along the way to our goals, whatever they are. Success is, completing things. Plain and simple.

Yesterday I was working with a client who is looking to lose weight and start feeling good about herself again. She was at her wits end with the cumbersome task of getting on the program I had designed for her.

She committed to it, yet in our next session I could hear the overwhelm in every sentence she spoke. There was no confidence or excitement in her voice. There was burden, and lots of it. My program was not the only project she had going in her life. She is a busy mother of three with a full time job. She manages so many things in one day it's no wonder. We discussed redefining success, and how to acknowledge every accomplishment along the way.

With this new headset she got back her enthusiasm to succeed with her goal:

5 Key Tips to Complete Things and be Successful:

1) Take small steps. Find your way, your rhythm. Pay attention to how it works for you. If you're comfortable doing only part A for awhile, then that is your prescription for following through.

2) Acknowledge each and everything you complete, no matter how mundane it may seem to you, as a success. If success is completing things, then whatever you complete falls into this category. When you follow this practice you will notice how you begin to retrain the brain to start looking for your successes.
Whatever we put our focus on expands.

3) Don't compete with others. We need to honor ourselves, our lives and uniqueness. The only one that can take our dreams away from us is ourselves. Pacing yourself, taking time to see how you're feeling in the process and being able to communicate those feelings so you continue with your goal is what's important.

4) It's all in your mindset. The way you think, feel and act is what creates success. A positive attitude is your best friend. You can find a way to get it done if you believe you can.

5) Stay in the present. Focusing on failures of the past has an energy of doom. Whatever you put your attention on expands, so why bring up what didn't work out before. It's important to learn from the past, put the corrections in and move forward. Stay fresh. Think newly.
