Blog Homepage - Positive Power Behind the Positive Students Section of the Interviewer: Why did you write a Positive Student Section into your Rising Thunder Blog? Joe: I'm writing this section into the blog because students today are more complicated than they have ever been in the history of education. The overall educational experience is now going through a period of rapid evolution, and the students of today are stuck in between the ideals of yesterday and the frontiers of tomorrow. This push and pull phenomenon is causing much higher levels of friction between today's students and their professors, teachers, parents, and school counselors. Of course, it's true that students are always going to feel that their parents and professors are “out of the loop.” However, in the case of today's awesomely fast-paced and technological school life, the students may not be too far off with that statement. But it's far from a lost cause. Students tell me that they often feel as if they're on an island by themselves. I want to give each one of them a lifeboat off their individual islands. I want to help bridge the void between the success students have experienced in the past and the new educational frontiers they will encounter in the future. In the end, I want to provide the voice I never heard, offer the map I never read, and clear the fog for today's student's that almost didn't lift for me during my school years. That's why I'm writing this Positive Student Section of the Rising Thunder Blog. Interviewer: In one paragraph, what is the Positive Student Section of the Rising Thunder Blog? Joe: The Positive Student Section of the Rising Thunder Blog is a place that exists for every student who simply wants more out of his or her educational experience. I believe students are extremely bored with sitting at relatively the same desks, in basically the same classrooms, which are located in more or less the same educational structure ever since he or she was five years old. I want to provide today's students with a new way to learn about life, not just subjects. That is what the Positive Student Section of the Rising Thunder Blog is all about. Interviewer: Why do you think today's students will relate to the Positive Student Section of the Rising Thunder Blog? Joe: Students will relate to this material because they can point out a phony “player” like a starving hound dog sniffing for scraps at an elementary school picnic. This section of my blog expresses a candid portrayal of topics that severely affect students from the view of someone whose name has been on The Dean's List, The Academic Probation List, The Campus Singles Classifieds, and the Girl's Bathroom Wall. It's not a question of, “Will students relate to this section of my blog?” They will because this material is written in a language that students use and understand. It may not always be pretty, but neither is education. There's no fancy Shakespearean language in this section of my blog: just the truth about how to find the code to school success. Interviewer: What is the central theme of Positive Student Section of the Rising Thunder Blog? Joe: This section will instruct, empower, and encourage students to get the most out of their educational experience both inside and outside the classroom by cracking their own student success code. However, cracking the student success code is not as easy as just reading a blog and declaring it for yourself. It means each student must fundamentally develop an attitude that prompts a focused, powerful, and positive interaction with whomever and whatever happens to be in their way of success. Then, from there, all students learn to rise above the flood of their individual fears and apprehensions by creating new habits and finally unlocking their own success code! Interviewer: Please explain the “Action Steps” that follow most of the blog entries? Joe: Please don't think of this material as a regular blog. This information is more of a system or a series of success lessons than it is a standard blog. I invite each reader to take the ideas that are discussed in this material and make them personal by following the Action Steps after each entry. The Action Steps are designed to help the reader begin down his or her own path to total student success today. The act of following these simple steps after each entry is the equivalent of opening the locked door to student success with a key as opposed to trying to pick the lock with a paper clip as most students struggle to do. It is when the reader takes action that this material becomes real for them. The Action Steps are what allows this information to drastically transform the direction of the lives of so many students. ** Please follow each “Action Step” very carefully with a separate note pad and pen. The more you elaborate on each “Action Step,” the more focused your discoveries will become. Also, do not read ahead within the Action Steps. When you are asked a question, please answer it and then read on. This will allow you to get the full intended impact of each Action Step at the end of each blog entry.
